Berlin Summer University of the Arts – July, 15th – October, 13th 2013

The Summer University of the Arts (SUA) at the Berlin University of the Arts offers a wide range of outstanding seminars and courses from its various departments: performing arts, fine arts, design and music. The spectrum of courses, ranging from classical master classes to experimental and academic workshops, is an opportunity for international artists of all disciplines to experience the traditional as well as contemporary expertise of the Berlin University of the Arts.
The Summer University also includes a creative entrepreneurship programme sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund of the Berlin Senate Chancellery - Cultural Affairs. The International Summer School of Creative Entrepreneurship (ISSCE) offers artists and creatives of all disciplines as well as designers and creative entrepreneurs varied courses, conceived and developed by internationally renowned instructors, in areas such as: Networking and Communication, Career Planning and Self-Marketing, Creative Entrepreneurship and Organisation and Arts Management.

Some highlights within this year’s programme:
- We are proud to present a “String-Quartet-Masterclass” with the violinist Gregor Sigl, member of the world-famous Artemis Quartet.
- David Spencer and John von Düffel will reprise their intensive seminar examining the key components of dramatic writing.
- Nicola Turner and Marc Wright will offer insights from the famous British cultural leadership programme.
- Paul Jackson (ECU, Australia) and Denis Bartelt (startnext) will analyse the potential of internet tools during their workshop and examine resources that facilitate collaboration and crowdsourcing for artists

INTERNATIONAL WINTER/SUMMER UNIVERSITY
Kassel, Germany

With the motto SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT | CULTURAL HERITAGE | STUDENT POTENTIAL. WE CARE, the International Winter University [IWU] and the International Summer University [ISU] Kassel feature the strengths of the University of Kassel in environmental and nano sciences as well as German language & culture.

Centrally located in the picturesque city of Kassel, where the Brothers Grimm collected the famous “Grimm’S Fairy Tales” and Arnold Bode initiated the world famous contemporary art exhibition “documenta”, Uni Kassel holds some of the most significant cultural heritage in Germany and is therefore an ideal place for studying German language and culture.

Being a young and dynamic university founded in 1971, Uni Kassel also plays a leading role in environmental engineering in Germany through its active involvement in academic research and knowledge transfer. In the last few years, studies and researches focusing on nano sciences have been actively explored at the Uni Kassel as well.

IWU and ISU Kassel now invite students from around the world to personally experience the strength and uniqueness of Uni Kassel showcased in the intensive programs taught in English [optionally in German]. With an admission of around 60 students per program, it is the uniqueness of IWU and ISU that the visiting students are fully integrated into the local community. Students will be engaged not only in inspiring academic seminars, but also multifarious cultural and social activities. The joint efforts of the organizing teams, teaching staff, and host families have constantly won the hearts and minds of the participants by taking care of the individual needs and potentials of the students.
